Angel Velez is an internationally acclaimed conductor known for seamlessly bridging the worlds of film music and classical performance. He has conducted orchestras across North and South America, Europe, and Asia, bringing cinematic scores to the concert stage with both artistry and impact.
Velez has led world premiere performances of major film and television scores, including Captain Marvel, Green Book, and The Book of Boba Fett, and worked on projects such as Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars: Rebels, and Family Guy. He has appeared with numerous orchestras in pops programs that combine Hollywood storytelling with symphonic depth.
As Artistic Director and Conductor of the Studio Intensive Orchestra at Warner Bros. Studios, Velez has recorded Ran Kan Kan (Tito Puente 100) with Tito Puente, Jr., The Hollywood Collection album, and collaborations with Latin music stars like Arturo Sandoval and Pedro Capó. His international recording credits include Germany’s Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz and the 25th anniversary re-recording of Jerry Goldsmith’s The Mummy with the Hollywood Studio Symphony. He serves as Music Director for Silent Films Live and the Harold Lloyd Symphony Series, and was recently named Music Director Designate of the Singapore International Soundtrack Festival.
A respected educator, Velez has taught conducting masterclasses on five continents and serves on the faculty of the Los Angeles College of Music. As director of the Los Angeles Film Conducting Intensive at Warner Bros., he has mentored the next generation of composers, including Ludwig Göransson (Black Panther) and Sherri Chung (Gremlins).
Through his work, Angel Velez continues to redefine how audiences around the world experience the intersection of cinema and the concert hall.
